Virat Kohli’s stardom has been rising steadily for the last decade or so. Since the retirement of legendary cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, and others, Virat Kohli has been the flagbearer of Indian cricket and he has played the role really well.
Very few batsmen in the world have been as prolific as him across all three formats in the last ten years or so. Not very long ago, Virat Kohli was the number-one batsman in all three formats. What has made him stand out from the rest is not only his exploits with the bat but also his attitude. His never-say-die attitude and his aggression are huge hits among cricket fans.
Unsurprisingly, he has a huge fan following not only in India but across the world. It does not matter whether he plays in India or outside, cricket fans make sure to give him a warm reception everywhere he goes. Over the years, one has also seen fans going out of their way to show their immense admiration for the India batting superstar.
Surat businessman’s grand gesture for Virat Kohli:
And now a businessman from Surat has also decided to come up with a grand gesture to show his love for Virat Kohli. Ahead of the much-awaited ODI World Cup, the businessman has decided to gift the former India skipper a 1.04-carat diamond-studded bat.
According to a report in India Today, the diamond-studded bat took a month to prepare. The businessman also made sure that the diamond was natural and not lab-grown. The 1.04-carat original rough diamond was used for the bat’s preparation. The bat is worth around Rs 10 lakh and has a width in the range of 15mm to 5mm. The process of making the bat was overseen by Utpal Mistry, a Diamond Technology expert and the Director of Lexus Softmac Company in Surat.
“A top cricketer of the country was to be gifted a natural diamond bat. It is very difficult without a machine to tell the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond when it is prepared.
“You won’t be able to tell by looking at it with your eyes. Now the diamond trader, who wanted to gift the diamond bat to the big cricketer, said that it should be known only by seeing that it is a natural diamond and not a lab-grown diamond,” Utpal Mistry told the news outlet.
“The bat is worth around INR 10 lakhs and the size is 15mm to 5mm, so we thought that the skin of a natural diamond which is made by God does not exactly match the skin of a lab-grown diamond. So we had the idea and we kept the skin of a rough diamond till polished. This was a very clear instruction because it was going to be a top Indian cricketer. He wanted to gift a natural diamond and not a lab-grown diamond,” he added.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be seen in action soon in the upcoming Asia Cup. The tournament is scheduled to be played from August 30 to September 17. The Men in Blue will open their campaign on September 2 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
