Asia Cup 2023: India's Preparatory Camp To Start On August 25; BCCI Summons 14 Net Bowlers - Reports

India National Cricket Team‘s preparatory camp for the Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin on August 25 in Alur and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has summoned 14 net bowlers for the five-day skill-based camp, according to News18 CricketNext.
Asia Cup 2023 will be played between August 30 to September 17. A total of six teams will feature in the marquee tournament, which consists of 13 matches. The competition will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
India, Pakistan, and Nepal form Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are placed in Group B. India will open their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday, September 2, in the 3rd match of the event at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
Meanwhile, the Indian players are set to assemble in Bengaluru for the camp today and the rest of the Asia Cup-bound players who are in Ireland for the three-match T20I series will join the squad on August 25 after the completion of the series.
“The available players will be reaching Bengaluru by today (August 23) evening for the camp in Alur. Players in Ireland – namely Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma – will be leaving tomorrow. They are likely to first go to their home city and then join the camp in Alur on August 25,” a senior BCCI official told CricketNext.

A BCCI official has revealed that as many as 14 net bowlers have been summoned by the board for the camp to make sure that players get quality net sessions.
“In addition to the Asia Cup squad, 14 net bowlers will be part of the Asia Cup preparatory camp. The idea is to ensure intensity and quality of net sessions is right up there and it doesn’t burn out the bowling resources,” added the official.
Also, the Rahul Dravid-led coaching staff and the BCCI selection committee members are set to attend the preparatory camp.
“Rahul Dravid will be there, so will be other members of the coaching staff – batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip. All the selectors too will be overseeing proceedings in Alur,” said the official.
