KL Rahul has continued his recovery as he eyes making a quick return to action ahead of the Asia Cup. The right-handed batsman has been sidelined with a thigh injury since May.
He sustained the injury while fielding during the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1 in IPL 2023. The LSG captain ended up tearing a tendon in his right leg while chasing a ball in just the second over of their match and was subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the competition. He also missed the World Test Championship final as well as the ongoing tour of West Indies.
KL Rahul was expected to be a part of India’s tour of Ireland to gain some much-needed match practice. However, the selectors have decided against it although they named Jasprit Bumrah in the team, making many speculate that the star batsman might not be fully fit.
However, it looks like KL Rahul is not too far from making his much-awaited return to international cricket. On Wednesday (August 2), he took to Instagram to post a video of himself batting and keeping in the nets. He looked comfortable while both batting and keeping in the nets.

KL Rahul likely to play Asia Cup:
While KL Rahul is not a part of the Ireland series, he is likely to be a part of the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup. The continental championship is scheduled to be played from August 30 to September 17. India will open their campaign on September 2 against Pakistan.
Rishabh Pant’s absence has made Rahul even more important for the team. While Ishan Kishan is the preferred wicketkeeper-batsman of the team at present, Rahul is likely to take the responsibility once he returns to the team.
