Asia Cup 2023: Sandeep Lamichhane Heads To Pakistan To Take Part In Asia Cup 2023 For Nepal After Rape Trial Delayed

Nepalese cricket star, Sandeep Lamichhane is already headed to Pakistan to take part in the Asia Cup 2024 after on Sunday (August 27th) the rape trial got delayed till Thursday (September 7th).
Sandeep Lamichhane, the 23-year-old Nepali player was accused of raping a minor girl in a hotel room last August in Kathmandu. However, Sandeep refused all the allegations that came against him.
In 2022, after the incident came into the limelight Lamichhane was arrested by the police and the Cricket Association of Nepal barred him from playing any matches.
However, the player was later given bail in January 2023 and was allowed to play for the cricket team again. The former Nepal cricket team skipper was then included in the squad to take part in ICC World Cup qualifiers and the Zimbabwe tour.
After the rape trial got delayed by the court, the lawyer of the player announced that Sandeep Lamichhane will now be able to take part in the Asia Cup 2023 for the Nepal Cricket Team.
Soon after the news was out, Lamichhane did not waste any time and boarded the next flight to Pakistan to be available for Nepal’s first game in the tournament.

Sandeep Lamichhane took to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account and confirmed that he had already boarded his flight to Pakistan.
The 23-year-old said that he is looking forward to taking part in the six-team continental tournament. Lamichhane also acknowledged the Member Secretary of Nepal Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising’s special gesture which helped him to get back in the squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup.

Nepal will face Babar Azam-led Pakistan in the inaugural match of the tournament on Wednesday (August 30th) at Multan International Stadium. Pakistan will lock horns against India in their second match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday (September 2nd) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka.
