Asia Cup 2023: "Shaheen Afridi Lethal In His First Two To Three Overs"- Former Pakistan Pacer Sarfaraz Nawaz

Shaheen Afridi will be Pakistan’s biggest weapon with the ball in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. He will lead a group of fast bowlers including Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf who are also expected to be part of the side. The Men in Green are yet to announce their Asia Cup squad.

Pakistan are placed along with India and Nepal in group A. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will be played in Pallekele on September 2. Shaheen will have his eyes on dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma, And Virat Kohli, two of India’s most experienced batsmen in the current squad.

Sarfaraz Nawaz, the former Pakistan pacer hailed Shaheen’s ability to take wickets with the new ball. He further said that Afridi is Pakistan’s secret weapon in crucial matches of the tournament. He spoke about Afridi’s significance for Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup and Worl Cup events.

Rarely Seen A Bowler With Such Control Over Swing: Sarfaraz Nawaz On Shaheen Afridi

“He is an extraordinary bowler and very very lethal in his first two three overs. I have rarely seen a bowler with such control over swing, seam and pace and yorkers with the new ball,” Nawaz was quoted as saying to the reporters in Lahore.

He further backed Pakistan to do well in both the Asia Cup and World Cup. He said that with Babar Azam as captain Pakistan have a settled unit and a competitive squad.

“I am confident that Pakistan can do really well in both these events because we have a settled side and Babar Azam is leading them well. I think the selection committee has also picked a very balanced squad for the series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup” the former Pakistan pacer further added.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have announced their Asia Cup squads with Babar Azam and Shakib Al Hasan leading the respective sides. India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan and Nepal while Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are placed in Group B.
