The countdown to the Asia Cup 2025 has begun with teams announcing their squad for the eight-team tournament to be played in T20I format this time. In this article, we will look at five big names who have been left out.

Asia Cup 2025 India Squad- 5 Big Names Who Have Been Left Out

5. Mohamed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj has been left out of India's squad for the Asia Cup 2025 to be played in the UAE in September.

There were speculations that Siraj might be rested for the eight-team tournament after his Herculean effort in the recently concluded five-match Test series against England as the senior bowler of the team.

4. Rishabh Pant

India's wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant will not be a part of the squad for the Asia Cup 2025, having featured in the 2022 Asia Cup, the last time the tournament was played in T20 format.

Rishabh's exclusion was on the cards after he got injured while batting in the penultimate Test match against England.

Pant's absence has provided an opportunity to Jitesh Sharma, who wasn't able to deliver consistent performances since making his debut in 2023, and would like to do so this time around as India looks to defend its title.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal

One of the most talked-about exclusions from India's 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in T20I format this year, was that of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The left-hander is one of the few batters who has scored a hundred for India in T20Is and has put on consistent performances for the team with aggressive intent at the top of the order.

Having said that, Jaiswal has been picked as one of the five reserve players who will be traveling with the squad throughout the competition.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul, who had a decent IPL 2025 season, was overlooked as an option for India in the Asia Cup. Rahul, who last featured in T20Is for India in 2022, scored more than 450 runs for the Delhi Capitals.

Rahul could have been a backup opener in the Asia Cup 2025 and a wicketkeeping option as well, which could have given flexibility to the team as far as selection of the playing XI is concerned.

1. Shreyas Iyer

An in-form Indian batter who can play at any position from three to six in the batting order, i.e., Shreyas Iyer, was hard done by when we talk about the selection of India's 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025.

Shreyas was in terrific form in the 2025 IPL season as he guided Punjab Kings to an IPL final for the first time after 2014.

As a batter as well, Shreyas led from the front by scoring more than 600 runs at a strike rate of 175, but it wasn't enough for him to earn a place in India's T20 scheme of things due to the team combination.

Iyer, who was a vital part of India's 2025 Champions Trophy win, will have to wait to get his chance in the T20I team.
