PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi has recently clarified his stance on India-Pakistan cricket negotiations for a bilateral series between the two nations with the BCCI amid the calls for the Asia Cup 2025 match to be canceled.
The India vs Pakistan match remains a celebrated affair in international cricket; however, the strained relations between the two nations have been a major blow to the India vs Pakistan game. The two teams have been meeting each other in only ICC and ACC events.
The two teams are scheduled to take on each other in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, while PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has said there would be no further 'begging' in front of the Indian team.
Mohsin Naqvi confirms no more 'begging'
Even in matches other than bilateral cricket, hosting India vs Pakistan matches has been a major challenge for both the boards. Just like the hosting rights of this Asia Cup have been presumed by the BCCI, but will be held in the UAE.
Earlier, the Indian government had clarified that there would be no bilateral cricket with Pakistan in the foreseeable future, but the two teams can continue to play against each other in multi-nation events.
India is scheduled to play against Pakistan on the 14th of September for the league stage game in the Asia Cup 2025. The two teams can possibly play against each other in the later stages of the tournament as well.
The two teams were placed in the same groups, as the Asian Cricket Council had already signed a deal with the official broadcasters of the tournament for a match between India and Pakistan in the group stage.
PCB Chairman confirms Indo-Pak negotiations will happen on 'equal footing'
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the ACC Chairman, is now clear that all the negotiations regarding Indo-Pak cricket with the BCCI will happen on 'equal footing.'
"I think we are very clear that whenever talks are held, it will be on an equal footing with India, and there will be no more begging for negotiations. That time has passed, and whatever will happen will be on the basis of equality," Naqvi said during a press conference in Lahore, just days before the start of the Asia Cup.
Mohsin Naqvi opens up on Babar Azam's snub from Asia Cup 2025 squad
The PCB Chief has confirmed to the Pakistan media that he is not involved in the exclusion of star Pakistan batter Babar Azam from Pakistan's squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
On the other hand, Pakistan's squad has the likes of Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman, who have both been tagged as aggressive cricketers. Pakistan team management is now backing cricketers who can bat with a greater strike rate to fancy their chances in the Asia Cup 2025.
