Asian Games 2023: VVS Laxman, Hrishikesh Kanitkar To Be Team India's Head Coach For Asian Games 2023 - Report

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman and Hrishikesh Kanitkar are to be Team India’s coaches for the upcoming Asian Games which will take place next month from September 3rd to October 8th in the Chinese province of Hangzhou.
The decision was taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since the dates of the Asian Games and ICC ODI Men’s World Cup were clashing and will be sending the reserve team to the multi-sport event in China.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had a stupendous Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 with the Chennai Super Kings will be leading the Men in Blues and include stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, and others in the squad.
According to a report by The Times of India, former India batsman, VVS Laxman will be the head coach of the India Men’s Team.
Whereas, former batter Hrishikesh Kanitkar will train the Indian Women’s Team during their matches in the Asian Games 2023.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s team skipper who recently criticized the umpires will be missing the multi-sport event due to her two-match ban.
VVS Laxman, the 48-year-old Test veteran is mainly known for innings in long-format cricket. However, during his cricket career, Laxman has never featured in the ODI World Cup.
VVS Laxman who is likely to take charge of the Indian Cricket Team during the Asian Games in the absence of Rahul Dravid is currently the chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore and will play a major role in the preparation of the Men in Blues for their upcoming matches in Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023.
Earlier, Laxman has also played the role of head coach during Rahul Dravid’s absence and this won’t be the first time.
Apart from VVS Laxman, Sairaj Bahutule and Munish Bali will be on the coaching list for the Asian Games
As per TOI, Sairaj Bahutule, the former spinner will take charge of the bowling coach and Munish Bali will be filling in as the fielding coach.
In the ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma-led India will start their voyage against Pat Cummins’s Australia on October 8th at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The high-voltage match of the ODI World Cup will be played on October 14th between India and Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
