AUS v SA: Aggressive, Clinical And Ruthless! Twitter Reacts As South Africa Thrash Australia In World Cup 2023

The Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team locked horns with Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team in the 10th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Thursday, October 12.
The Proteas hammered the Aussies in the match and handed them a massive defeat of 134 runs. This was their second consecutive win in the ICC World Cup 2023 as in their first match they crushed Sri Lanka by 102 runs.
Australia National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. They made two changes to their playing XI as Marcus Stoinis replaced Cameron Green and Josh Inglis came in for Alex Carey. The Proteas, on the other hand, headed into the clash with one change in their team as Gerald Coetzee was replaced by Tabraiz Shamsi.
After being invited to bat first in the match, Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma provided their side with a brilliant start. Although Bavuma got out for 35 after getting off to a good start, De Kock made the most of his start and smashed his second consecutive ton of the ICC World Cup 2023.
He smashed 109 runs off 106 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes, before getting out. Aiden Markram also played a wonderful knock of 56 runs while Heinrich Klaasen, Rassie van der Dussen, Marco Jansen, and David Miller chipped in with crucial runs to help South Africa score 311/7.
Chasing the target in the match only Marnus Labuschagne looked good among the batters as he scored 46 runs while the next two top performers were Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins who amassed 27 and 22 runs respectively.
The Aussies kept struggling in the match and they were bundled out for 177 in 40.5 overs. There were a couple of controversial dismissals during the Australian innings, but overall it was an underwhelming batting show from the 5-time champions.
For South Africa, every bowler picked up wickets with Kagiso Rabada being the best performer. He looked threatening and bagged three wickets. Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi picked two wickets while Lungi Ngidi got one wicket.
Meanwhile, this was the first time Australia lost their first two World Cup matches since 1992. And overall this was the first instance of Australia losing 4 consecutive World Cup matches.
Here’s How Twitter Reacted After Australia vs South Africa ICC World Cup 2023 Clash:
Australia suffers its biggest World Cup defeat by runs (134) vs South Africa. The previous two 100-plus run defeats came against India and West Indies in 1983.
Also the first time it has lost its opening two games since '92 and four consecutive WC matches on the trot. #CWC23

SA were aggressive, clinical and ruthless. Sure, there may have been a couple of dubious decisions, but Aus were completely outplayed. A lot of questions & if they’re going to reach the knockouts they’ll have to find answers very quickly. #CWC2023 #CWC23 #AUSvSA

Long way to go still but some pre-tournament predictions must feel threatened already.. Australia will need some serious effort to recover from these two massive defeats .. And South Africa, boy they look so so strong #AUSvSA

Australia's second attempt to cross 200 in this World Cup has failed. Let's see if Sri Lanka can help them.

Every year , southafrica gives cricket world a massive hope but only to fade away later . I hope this year they do go all the way just for the sake of cricket .. but they are peaking too soon !! will be important to keep it going @ProteasMenCSA #AUSvSA #WorldCup2023

Never before in their World Cup history, Australia had lost four matches on the trot.
The 134-run defeat is also their biggest in the World Cup. But what's most surprising was their effort in the field – dropped as many as six catches. Never seen them this bad in the field.…— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) October 12, 2023

A dominating display from South Africa as they clinch a 134-run win against Australia. #CWC23

SA: 311/7, AUS: 177
SA beat AUS comfortably by 134 runs.It still surprises me how South Africa went under the radar before the start of the tournament with that gun top 6. All of this despite beating Australia 3-2 from 0-2. Maybe indha win apram they'll have to be considered… pic.twitter.com/dBzT8dr3qH

Australia sports on the decline. Rugby team could not come out of the group stage of the rugby World Cup and the cricket team appears to follow the same path. #AUSvsSA

Brilliant two games from South Africa. They were my dark horses before the tournament began, as I said on @cricketnext and @News9Tweets.
Despite these two wins, still think of them as dark horses. Lots to do still to make the semis and make it count for real! #CWC23 #AusvsSA

Very disheartening performance from five times WC champions.
Failure in all departments on field.#AUSvsSA— Vijaya Prasad (@vipraksoffical) October 12, 2023
#AUSvsSA never seen such a boring start to the World Cup. So far all the matches are one sided,it's disappointing to see like this. Haven't seen a close finish yet in any match

South Africa now top of the table with 2/2 wins. New Zealand, India and Pakistan have also won 2 matches ??
Australia are in deep, deep trouble. They have lost both matches and sit just above Afghanistan right now. #CWC23 #AUSvsSA pic.twitter.com/LG6HCUBw5c— Zulfiqar Ali Langah (@Xulfiie) October 12, 2023
