AUS vs ENG: Alex Carey Hasn't Had A Haircut Since WTC Final: Cricket Australia Slams Alastair Cook For 'False' Story About Wicketkeeper

Australia have slammed Alastair Cook for his recent story about their wicketkeeper Alex Carey. While commentating for BBC on day one of the ongoing third Ashes Test, the former England captain claimed that Carey did not pay a barber after getting his hair cut in Leeds.
Cook claimed that the incident took place on Wednesday (July 5), a day before the Test started. The England great said that he had his hair cut at the same Leeds hairdresser and shared the story on air, giving the English fans more ammunition to target Carey who has faced the heat after Jonny Bairstow’s controversial dismissal in the second Test.
“He says ‘one of them, I think Alex is his name’. I said ‘Alex Carey, wicketkeeper?’” Cook said on air.
“He says ‘he hasn’t paid.’ It was one of those cash only barbers and he promised him he would do a transfer later on in the day,” he added.
Australia slams Alastair Cook:
With Alex Carey being mocked over the incident, Australia have claimed that the story is not true as they slammed Alastair Cook. Cricket Australia has categorically denied that the wicketkeeper-batsman has even had a haircut or visited a barber since the team was in Chelsea in London. Carey’s teammates including Steve Smith, who was with him at the time, verified that the wicketkeeper had not visited a barber.
Smith took to Threads to confirm the same, writing: ?I can confirm Alex Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right The Sun.” His comments came after English news outlet The Sun published a news on the incident.

Australian management say the claims Alex Carey owes a barber £30 are untrue. He hasn’t had his hair cut since the WTC final.
Another player went to said barber, paid via international transfer on the spot, and they’ll return today with the receipt to clear up confusion. #Ashes

As per Australian outlet Daily Telegraph, a different player from the Australian squad had visited a local barber. He too had paid for the haircut by international transfer after walking into the barber not knowing it was cash only. The player also has the receipt which he will take to the barber today to clear up any misunderstanding.
