The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is planning to offer a first multi-year central contract to promising batter Harry Brook. The ECB made the decision to offer a long-term contract to Harry Brook following his impressive performances in international cricket.

Harry Brook made a strong impression with his batting performances in red-ball cricket. The right-handed batter scored 1028 runs in 17 innings with an impressive average of 64.25. He smashed hundreds and five and a half centuries in the longer format of the game.

ECB Plans Historic Multi-Year Deal for Harry Brook

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the ECB is considering offering multi-year contracts to their top players as part of the upcoming central contracts. The report also mentioned that the match fees for players will be increased when the contracts are issued in October.

The move comes as franchise teams are offering contracts to secure talented players in the highly competitive global cricket market. Despite financial constraints, the ECB is willing to invest in retaining key talent within the national team, showcasing their commitment.

The 24-year-old made his international debut during the T20I series against the West Indies in 2022. He then went on to make his Test debut later that year and his first ODI appearance in January 2023. He represents the SunRisers Hyderabad, the Joburg Super Kings, and the Lahore Qalandars.

ECB Considers Multi-Year Deals for Ben Stokes, Joe Root, And Jos Buttler

Senior players Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler are expected to receive multi-year contract offers. The current ECB central contract provides players with a guaranteed amount of £900,000. Additionally, players also receive £14,500 and £4,500 for each red-ball and white-ball appearance, respectively.

The ECB will discuss multi-year deals and pay structures with the Team England Player Partnership over the next two months. The board will understand that players may opt for franchise cricket over a central contract. Their decision to forgo a central contract will make them unavailable for selection.
