New Zealand batter Mark Chapman has been left out of the playing XI against Australia in the 27th match of the ICC World Cup 2023. Black Caps skipper Tom Latham confirmed that Mark Chapman is unavailable for the ongoing match as he is suffering from a niggle.
New Zealand is currently facing off against the Pat Cummins-led team at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday, October 28. The Kiwi team won the toss and chose to field first. Both teams made a single change in their playing XI.
Mark Chapman Has A Claf Niggle – Tom Latham
During the toss at the Australia-New Zealand match, Tom Latham stated that Jimmy Neesham replaced Mark Chapman, who had a calf niggle. Latham also emphasized the importance of adapting quickly to the match conditions.
“We are going to bowl. Early start, a reasonable surface; there may be something early with the new ball because of a day game. Jimmy Neesham is in for Mark Chapman, who has a calf niggle. Adapting quickly to what is in front of us will be key,” Latham said.
Mark Chapman was a part of the New Zealand team in their first five matches of the World Cup. The left-handed batter scored 36 runs in three innings at a disappointing average of 18 and a strike rate of 109.09. He scored an unbeaten 25 runs against Afghanistan in Chennai.

New Zealand and Australia are currently in the third and fourth positions in the 10-team points table, respectively. The Kiwis are coming off a loss against India, while the Men in Yellow have registered three consecutive victories after initial setbacks in the tournament.
