Pakistan’s Star batter Babar Azam had to walk out from the pitch with disappointment yet again as Pat Cummins caught his leg before wicket when he was batting at 26 in the 1st innings of the 3rd test at the Sydney Cricket Ground with the visitors under the pressure of avoiding an embarrassing 3-0 whitewash.
The Men in Green under the captaincy of Shan Masood suffered back-to-back high run margin losses to a World Champion Australian side both in Tests and One Day. Pat Cummins’ side has not given Pakistan any chance at all to make a comeback and whenever the visitors did, Australia would always find a way to clap back and enforce a collapse.
In the 1st Test on the back of David Warner’s splendid 164-run knock, Australia were able to win the match by a heavy margin of 360 runs as Pakistan’s batting lineup succumbed to pressure while trying to chase down a total of 450 runs. Babar Azam had scores of 21 and 14 across both innings.
In the 2nd test at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Aussies for some parts of the game were on backfoot but as we all know, their habit of staging comebacks yet again hunted down Pakistan as they lost by 79 runs with Babar Azam failing to put an impact yet again as he got out for 1 and 41 respectively.
Ahead of the 3rd test, Shan Masood had expressed his hopes of Babar Azam producing a comeback at Sydney and claimed that something big was coming from his bat. However, after a decent start to his inning, the 29-year-old got out for 26 runs after Pat Cummins bowled an unplayable in-swinger that caught his pads on the way to leg stump.
The Australians shouted their lungs out but the umpire shook his head and denied their appeal. Pat Cummins immediately went upstairs for a DRS. At first, it looked as if the ball took a slight edge off Babar Azam’s bat but after conclusive reports of the Snicko Meter, the 3rd umpire went looking for the ball tracking.
The umpire’s call was not out as it looked as if the ball was drifting towards the leg side, missing the leg stump itself, however, the ball tracking showed that it is hitting the stumps with the on-field umpire reversing his decision to out.
Aamer Jamal Says Babar Azam Was Unlucky In The 1st Inning At Sydney
All-Rounder Aamer Jamal whose 82 off 97 helped Pakistan register 313 in the 1st inning, claimed that Babar Azam was very unlucky to have been given out after the DRS. After looking at the ball tracking, Jamal stated that it should have been given the Umpire’s call on DRS as the ball just grazed past the wicket. But nonetheless, the visitors will now look to restrict Australia on Day 2 with hosts currently at 6 for no loss.
