Australia opener David Warner has made a plea for the safe return of the backpack containing his Baggy Green cap ahead of his farewell Test. The left-handed batsman will be playing his last Test for Australia when they take on Pakistan in the third match of the ongoing series against Pakistan.

Just ahead of the special game, David Warner lost his treasured cap while he was traveling from Melbourne to Sydney for the third and final Test. He took to social media to reveal that the backpack containing the Baggy Green went missing after the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

He flew home to Sydney on December 30, the day after Australia thrashed Pakistan by 79 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The 37-year-old had left his Baggy Green inside his Cricket Australia backpack. The backpack was then placed inside a larger bag, which was flown from Melbourne to Sydney on December 31 with the rest of the team’s luggage.

David Warner’s plea for Baggy Green:

On the eve of his final Test appearance, David Warner posted a video on social media, saying:

“Inside this backpack was my Baggy Green. It’s sentimental to me. It’s something I’d love to have in my hands walking out there this week. If it’s the backpack you really wanted, I have a spare one here. You won’t get into trouble.

“Please reach out to Cricket Australia or myself via my social media. I’m happy to give this to you if you return my Baggy Green,” he added.

He also wrote: “Hi all, this is my last resort, but my backpack, which contained my Baggy Green, has been taken from my luggage, which was transported to Melbourne airport and flown on @qantas to Sydney a few days ago. @qantas have said they checked their cameras and have not seen anyone open our bags and take the backpack, however they do have blind spots.

“If you are the person, who was either working for the company driving it to and from the airport or working for @qantas and have, by chance, just wanted the backpack, I have one for. I would be grateful if this were returned asap. Thanks,” he added.
