The AUS vs PAK third Test match will be played from January 3-7 2024 in Sydney. Australia have already won the series and are looking for a clean sweep. Australia won the first Test by 360 runs and the second by 79 runs.

Pakistan’s loss in the second Test was their 16th consecutive loss to Australia in Test matches in Australia. The Men in Green have been perhaps the worst touring team down under. Despite being in a good situation in the second innings of the second Test, Pakistan did not capitalize on the initiative.

The Pakistan bowlers bowled out Australia for 318 and 264 in the two innings. From being 16/4, Mitchell Marsh (96), Steve Smith (50), and Alex Carey (53) took the Aussies to 264 setting Pakistan a target of 316 runs in the second innings. Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals ultimately losing the Test match by a margin of 79 runs.

Pat Cummins the Australian skipper delivered an inspirational performance with the ball taking 10 wickets in the Test match. His fellow pacer Mitchell Starc took four in the second innings to rock Pakistan.

Heading into the third Test in Sydney, Australia are placed third on the WTC points table while Pakistan are placed fifth. The Men in Green topped the table before the start of the series and now have fallen to fifth place in the table.

As per the recent reports in Cricket Pakistan, the team management is thinking about making two massive changes to the playing XI in the Sydney Test. With Imam-Ul-Haq in poor form, they are looking to replace the opener with a specialist spinner in the side. Pakistan fielded an all-out pace attack in the second Test in Melbourne with two of their spinners Abrar Ahmed and Noman Ali ruled out of the Test series with injury concerns.

The poor bowling form of the Pakistan pacers especially Shaheen Afridi has kept the management thinking. The lead Pakistan pacer has picked up just 8 wickets from the first two Tests giving away 333 runs in the first two Tests so far, the most among all the pacers who have bowled so far in this series.

Australia, on the other hand, have looked as a confident unit. Pat Cummins the skipper was the Man of the Match in the second Test for picking up 10 wickets in the MCG Test match. He has brushed aside Mohammad Hafeez’s criticism of Pakistan playing better in the second Test than the Aussies. Barring any injury concerns the same side should play the third test which is David Warner’s final Test match at his home ground.
