Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur looked back at his team’s defeat against India in the ICC World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad on October 14, Saturday. The Men in Green suffered their eighth loss against India in World Cups. India after beating Pakistan are now topping the points table with a healthy NRR of +1.821.

Pakistan were well placed at 155/2 looking good to post a total above 300. Babat Azam (50) and Mohammad Rizwan (49) added an 82-run stand which was broken by Mohammed Siraj who castled Babar Azam.

His wicket opened the floodgates for India as Pakistan collapsed from 155/2 to 191 all out. Barring Shardul Thakur all five regular Indian bowlers took two wickets each after Siraj came up with Babar’s dismissal. Pakistan had a very sudden collapse in their batting lineup on a good batting track.

Speaking at the press conference after the match, Pakistan Director Of Cricket Mickey Arthur said that his team’s performance was timid against the Men in Blue.

“I think we were a little bit timid tonight with our overall performance. I would have liked us to really take the game on just a little bit more. It’s a massive occasion as we know and went into our shelves a little bit quickly” said Arthur.

He also shared his thoughts on the “traditional collapse” of Pakistan who asked the question on the same. Pakistan lost their last 8 wickets for just 36 runs after the loss of Babar Azam who scored his maiden ODI fifty against India.

“To go from 155/2 to 190-odd all out is just not on. Credit to India, I thought they bowled really well but I just thought our performance was just a little bit timid” added Mickey Arthur.

India Have All Bases Covered: Mickey Arthur

Mickey Arthur also spoke about the overall Indian team and how good they look to lift the title. He credited Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid for arranging a good team and said that India have all their bases covered.

“This Indian team is a very, very good cricket team. I think they’re very well led by Rahul and Rohit. I think they look good. I think they’ve got all bases covered and I’m looking forward to meeting them in the final again,” Mikey Arthur told reporters.

India next plays against Bangladesh on October 19 in Pune while Pakistan next face Australia in Bengaluru on October 20.
