Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram talked about Shaheen Afridi’s form in the ICC World Cup 2023. He admitted that the left-arm pacer is low on confidence and suggested things he can do to get back into the groove in the tournament.
Shaheen Afridi hasn’t been at his best in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. The Pakistan pacer has struggled to get going and has failed to pick wickets as well. His greatest strength over the years has picking wickets with the new ball.
But Shaheen Afridi hasn’t been able to do that. He has been taken to runs as well and hasn’t been economical as well. The pacer has picked four wickets in three games but isn’t anywhere near to his best, which was quite evident in the game against India in Ahmedabad.
Wasim Akram said that Shaheen Afridi shouldn’t try anything out of the ordinary and should keep things simple. He touted him as a wicket-taking bowler and said that two or three good spells would bring him back in form. Speaking during an appearance on ‘The Pavilion’, a show on Pakistan’s A Sports, he explained:
“He has been bowling well. During the World Cup, what special he can do? Obviously, his confidence is low. But he’s a wicket-taking bowler, if you are not getting wickets, just be normal. Don’t do anything out of the ordinary, follow your routine and keep practicing. Just one or two good spells is all he needs to be back in form.”
AUS vs PAK: Shaheen Afridi returns to practice session after being down with viral

They didn’t take part in the first practice session. But later reports emerged that they had recovered and taken part in the practice session. Pakistan will be next seen in action when they take on Australia on Friday (20th October) in Bengaluru. They won their first two games and then suffered a defeat against India.
