Veteran opener David Warner stepped out to bat in his final match for Australia in the longer format of the game. David Warner received a guard of honor from the Pakistan team as he entered to bat on Day 1 of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan.

The Australian team were asked to play one last over before the end of the day’s play at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday. Warner touched the mural of the late Phillip Hughes in the dressing room before making his way down the steps onto the outfield.

David Warner entered the crease alongside his childhood batting partner, Usman Khawaja. Warner shared an embrace with Khawaja, emphasizing their long-standing partnership, before stepping across the boundary ropes onto the outfield to bat in his final match.

David Warner Smashes Boundary On First Ball In Australia’s Innings

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood handed the ball to off-spinner Sajid Khan with just one over left in the day’s play. Warner, displaying his trademark style, aggressively dispatched the spinner through the off side with the first delivery in Australia’s first innings.

The 37-year-old narrowly avoided dismissal on the penultimate delivery of the over. Warner defended on the back foot, but the ball bounced just above the stumps after hitting from the ground. The Pakistani fielders were in utter disbelief after the opener survived.

Aamir Jamal Helps Pakistan Reach A Total Of 313 Runs

Pakistan got off to a poor start after choosing to bat first in the third and final Test. Both openers, Abdullah Shafique and debutant Saim Ayub, were dismissed for ducks inside the first two overs. Babar Azam failed to deliver once again as he was dismissed for 26 runs.

The Pakistan team lost four wickets with only 47 runs on the board. Skipper Shan Masood and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan attempted to build a partnership, but Mitchell Marsh broke the 49-run stand. The visiting team collapsed to 227/9 in 55 overs.

Rizwan displayed an impressive performance, scoring 88 runs off 103 balls with 10 fours and two sixes. The right-handed batter missed out on reaching a century as Pat Cummins dismissed him with a well-directed short ball, falling 12 runs short of the three-figure mark.

Aamer Jamal demonstrated resilience by forming an impactful 86-run partnership with Mir Hamza for the last wicket before Nathan Lyon dismissed him. The young all-rounder scored 82 runs off 97 deliveries with the help of nine boundaries and four maximums.
