AUS vs PAK: Watch - David Warner Survives As Usama Mir Drops Sitter

The veteran Australia National Cricket Team opening batsman David Warner got an early reprieve after the Pakistan National Cricket Team spinner Usama Mir dropped a sitter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the 18th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 20.

Usama Mir is making his ICC Cricket World Cup debut in the match against the Aussies. He replaced the Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan in the playing XI, who was dropped from the team following a string of poor performances for an extended period of time.

The 27-year-old Mir looked quite nervous as he took the field for Pakistan in his first-ever ICC Cricket World Cup game. Things got worse for him and his confidence took a further hit when he dropped a dolly of catch of star opener Warner.

On the third ball of the 5th over, the left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi bowled a short ball to Warner, who only managed to get a top edge. The ball went towards mid-on and it looked like Warner’s innings had been cut short. However, it didn’t happen as Usama Mir made a mess of the simple catch and dropped a sitter.

As Warner got a lifeline, Shaheen Afridi couldn’t believe what he saw and the spinner Mir looked extremely tensed after dropping an absolute dolly.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first. The decision proved to be a poor one for the side as the Pakistan bowlers were taken to the cleaners by David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. The duo smashed the bowlers all over the park and completed 100 runs in 75 balls.

Pakistan entered the clash with two victories and one loss to their name. The Men In Green started off their World Cup campaign by registering comprehensive victories over Netherlands the and Sri Lanka. However, they faced a hammering against India.

Australia, on the other hand, headed into the match with two losses and one win in their bag. The Pat Cummins & Co. faced crushing defeats at the hands of India and South Africa before registering a comfortable win over Sri Lanka.
