AUS vs SA: ‘No Regrets For Sandpapergate’- David Warner Delivers No Nonsense Verdict On Ball-Tampering Scandal. The 36-year-old Australia National Cricket Team opening batsman David Warner, who has so far scored 16823 runs in international cricket, has come up with a massive “don’t regret anything” remark on the 2018 ball-tampering scandal.
The ball-tampering fiasco, infamously known as the sandpaper-gate scandal, took place in March 2018 during the third Test match of the series between Australia and South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town.

Australian Cameron Bancroft was caught by television cameras trying to rough up one side of the ball with sandpaper and then-captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner were found to be involved in the scandal.
Smith and Warner were banned for 12 months each from cricket while Cameron Bancroft was banned for 9 months. Also, Smith and Warner were stripped of all leadership entitlements with Smith, who is currently Australia’s Test vice-captain, receiving a two-year leadership ban and Warner receiving a lifetime leadership ban.

During an interview with Herald Sun, David Warner was asked if he regretted the incident. He responded that he doesn’t regret anything in his life and the past incidents have helped him become the individual he is at present.
“I don’t regret anything. You make your own path, right? No one is perfect and you should never judge anyone until you’re perfect,” Warner said.
“If you try and be this robotic person and individual that wants to please everyone, it’s going to come down anyway, because you can’t please everyone. Whatever has happened in my past, it’s made me the individual I am and has probably got me to where I am.”
I’ve got no regrets, and I enjoy where I am at the moment – David Warner
Warner further said that he has no regrets whatsoever and is happy with his career at present.
“My circle around me is very, very small. They’re the only people I trust and I can always go to them for advice. If I did go back and make changes I wouldn’t be the person who I am and what I value. I’ve got no regrets, and I enjoy where I am at the moment,” said Warner.
David Warner also claimed that the Cricket Australia (CA) bosses, who were in authority during the 2018 ball-tampering scandal, didn’t provide any support to him during the tough period and only his close people looked out for him.
“The people that were close to me really looked out for me. Within the organisation though, nope. None,” Warner said.
“Unfortunately that’s what it was like back then. You were like this washing machine. You’re just rinsed out, recycled, next player comes in. A lot has changed since then and George Bailey and Andrew McDonald are doing a great job now. You expect the organisation to actually support you.”
