Adelaide Oval is all set to host the AUS vs WI first Test from January 17-21. The second Test will be played at The Gabba from December 25-29. The first Test starts at 5 am IST.

Australia will be led by Pat Cummins. He is back to leading a side after the Aussies registered a series win over Pakistan. He ended 2023 on a strong note and began 2024 with a Test series win as well. Australia are currently dominating at the top.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood form the pace trio with Nathan Lyon as the specialist spinner. Scott Boland is part of the seam attack to add extra pace. David Warner retired from international cricket after the Pakistan Test series. Steve Smith is now primed to replace the southpaw at the top of the order.

West Indies have named a 15-member Test squad led by Kraigg Brathwaite. Pacer Jayden Seals is ruled out with a shoulder injury. Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers have made themselves unavailable looking to play in domestic T20 cricket leagues.

West Indies have named a few uncapped players in their 15-man squad for the AUS vs WI Test series. Jermaine Blackwood, Raymon Reifer, Rahkeem Cornwall, Shannon Gabriel, and Jomel Warrican have been left out from the squad that played their last Test series against India in June 2023.

Uncapped allrounder Kevin Sinclair, who was picked for the India series but didn’t get a game, has been retained. Apart from him, the other uncapped players picked in the squad are batter Zachary McCaskie, wicket-keeper Tevin Imlach, allrounders Justin Greaves and Kavem Hodge, and fast bowlers Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph.

It was back in 2003 that West Indies won their last Test match against India. Australia whitewashed West Indies 2-0 in 2022. The Windies have lost every Test series they have played against the Windies since the start of 2000.

Cricket Australia has been pondering about whom to open after David Warner’s retirement. Marcus Harris, Cameron Green, and Cameron Bancroft were among the options open to Cricket Australia but they have decided to go with the experience of Steve Smith. Smith has never opened in Test cricket and if he does open in Adelaide it will be for the very first time in his Test career.

Adelaide will host the first AUS vs WI Test match from January 17-21. The Test match started at 5 am IST. The venue has hosted 83 Test matches with 41 matches winning batting first and 23 matches winning batting second. The venue is among the best ones for batting in Australia. It plays very flat on the first three days of a Test match and as the match wears on it brings the spinners into the game.

Speaking about the weather conditions, it will remain fair for a good game of cricket. There is no rain threat as such but there will be cloudy skies in spells across the five days. The temperature will be between 25-34 degrees. Day two will be a bit cloudier than the others.
