Former Australia National Cricket Team spinner Brad Hogg has predicted the scoreline for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Brad Hogg has backed the Australia National Cricket Team to 'humiliate' India National Cricket Team in the high-octane five-match Test series.
Australia lost the last 4 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series
The Aussies last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014-15 when they defeated the Men In Blue 2-0 in the four-match series Down Under.
Since then, things have gone downhill for them, and they haven't managed to register a Test series win over the Indian team. The Aussies have struggled both on home soil and in India, and due to this, they haven't managed to get their hands on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 for a decade.
India have won the last four Test series against Australia - 2016/17, 2018/19, 2020/21, and 2022/23 - by a margin of 2-1. Australia National Cricket Team would be looking to change things around this time and win the series to capture the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The first Test is scheduled to be played in Perth from November 22 before the action moves to Adelaide for the second Test from December 6.
Meanwhile, the next three Test matches will be hosted by Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney from December 14, 26 and January 4.
They should get on top with a more experienced pace attack - Brad Hogg
Australia National Cricket Team have been declared the favorites by many experts because of their recent dominance and the poor performance of the India National Cricket Team in their previous series at home where they got whitewashed by the New Zealand National Cricket Team.
Brad Hogg is no different as he also backed Australia to win the series by a margin of 3-2. He feels that Australian pacers will dominate the Indian batters and take the team to victories.
"I think you have got to favour Australia 3-2 at least because we are playing Perth, in Brisbane, then Adelaide with the night-ball Test. I just think with our pace attack now, with the experience they have, the knowledge of Australian conditions, they should get on top with a more experienced pace attack," Brad Hogg told RevSportz in an interview
I think both Ashwin and Jadeja should play - Brad Hogg
Brad Hogg has also advised Gautam Gambhir & Co. to change the playing XI combination and go with two spinners and three pacers instead of one spinner, one pace-bowling all-rounder, and three pacers. He elaborated:
"I think both Ashwin and Jadeja should play. Jadeja is very good in the first innings, I think with the ball skidding on over here with the greener wickets, but as the wicket wears down, this is where Ashwin comes into it, so they have got two spinners that are unique in a sense that they are going to give the team benefit on the different days of the Test match."
