Australia Great Ricky Ponting Picks Top 5 T20I Players, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah Included

Legendary Australia National Cricket Team captain Ricky Ponting has picked his top 5 T20 International (T20I) players in world cricket. The 47-year-old included two star India National Cricket Team players on his list.

Ponting named the 23-year-old Afghanistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner Rashid Khan as the best T20 player in world cricket. He said that the star Afghanistan cricketer would fetch the highest bid if he enters an Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

“I’ve actually gone with Rashid Khan at number one, and the reason I thought about that was if we actually had a player event in an IPL auction now and there was no salary cap, he’s probably the one that’s going to go for the most amount of money,” Ponting was quoted as saying on the latest episode of The ICC Review.

Legendary Australia National Cricket Team skipper named Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam as the second-best T20 player in the world. He reasoned:

“Babar Azam I’ll go for at number two, simply because the number one ranked batter in the T20 game for quite a while now and deservedly so.”

Ponting further picked star India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya on his list of top 5 T20I players in the world and labelled him as the best T20 all-rounder currently.

“He understands the game better and he understands his game better than ever before and right now he’s probably the best all-rounder in the world in T20 cricket, and could potentially be in ODI cricket,” Ponting added.

England National Cricket Team white-ball captain Jos Buttler was named at the No.4 spot on Ponting’s list. He said that the wicketkeeper-batsman is an “out-and-out match winner”.

“He was one of the people who’s an out-and-out match winner, as we saw with last year’s IPL, making three or four hundreds, which was quite remarkable,” Ponting mentioned.

Legendary Australia National Cricket Team skipper’s last pick was premier India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who he believes is the most complete bowler across formats.

“He is probably the most complete bowler across Test cricket, One Day cricket and T20 cricket in the world right now. Very good with the new ball when anyone decides to use him that way,” Ponting added.
