Avesh Khan Vows To Give His 100 Per Cent If Any Opportunity Arises In England Tour

Delhi Capitals’ paceman Avesh Khan has earned the reward for a stellar showing in IPL 2021 as BCCI named him one of the standby players for the forthcoming England tour. Avesh Khan, along with Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna and Arzan Nagwaswalla, will travel along with the 20-man squad for the five-match Test series against England. The 24-year old has promised to give his best if presented with an opportunity.

Avesh Khan fared incredibly well for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 as he took 14 wickets in eight matches, ending the season as the second-highest wicket-taker. The 24-year old did so at 16.50 apiece at a decent economy rate of 7.70. His performance with the ball had been integral to the Capitals’ dominance in the tournament, given that Kagiso Rabada’s mixed show and Anrich Nortje not getting the nod.

Before that, the Madhya Pradesh-born speedster also did well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year as he finished the third-highest wicket-taker. Khan took 14 scalps in five games at 10.64 with a fifer and a four-wicket haul, maintaining an economy rate of 7.45.

Avesh Khan recalled the previous times when he had been part of India’s squad in South Africa and England for the 2019 World Cup apart from the home Test series against the Englishmen. The 24-year old is looking forward to the opportunity and underlined he would get a chance in case someone sustains an injury. Khan vows to give his everything and will prepare for it accordingly.

“I have travelled as net bowler with Team India to South Africa as well. I was with the squad during 2019 World Cup in England also, was them during the home Test series against England. I have been with the Indian squad during Asia Cup also. It gives a very good opportunity. I am a standby bowler for the upcoming England tour and if someone gets injured I might get a chance to play. I will do my preparations for the tour. I have to play and give my 100 per cent,” Khan told ESPN Cricinfo.
