Ayush Badoni claims he didn't even know about Chris Gayle's record of most 6s in a T20 match

Young Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Ayush Badoni opened up about breaking West Indies legend Chris Gayle's six-hitting record.
Badoni said that he aimed to surpass Chris Gayle's record for the most runs in a T20 match during the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2024 season.
The young batter stole the show with his batting prowess during the match between the South Delhi Superstarz and the North Delhi Strikers on Saturday, August 31.
Badoni led the South Delhi Superstarz with an impressive 165 runs off just 55 deliveries at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Ayush Badoni Breaks Chris Gayle's Record For Most Sixes In A T20I Game
Ayush Badoni came in to bat at No. 3 after opener Sarthak Ray was dismissed. The 24-year-old adopted an aggressive approach from the start, scoring at a remarkable strike rate of 300. He hit 19 sixes and eight fours during his innings. The South Delhi Superstarz finished at 308/5 in 20 overs.
The South Delhi Superstarz skipper broke Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes in a T20 innings. Gayle hit 18 sixes during a Bangladesh Premier League match for the Rangpur Riders against the Dhaka Dynamites. Estonia batter Sahil Chauhan also hit 18 sixes in a T20 match against Cyprus.
Badoni also surpassed Shreyas Iyer's record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a T20 innings. Iyer hit 15 sixes against Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019. Badoni is now the holder of the highest individual score by an Indian batter in T20s, surpassing Iyer's record of 147 runs.

I Don't Know About Chris Gayle's Record - Ayush Badoni
In an interview with Sports Tak, Badoni said that he wasn't aware of breaking Chris Gayle's record for most sixes in a T20 innings. However, Badoni mentioned that he wanted to surpass Gayle's record for the most runs in a T20I match.
“I didn't know about Chris Gayle's record because I knew about his 175-run record,” said Badoni.
Chris Gayle holds the record for the most runs in a T20I innings. The former West Indies skipper scored an unbeaten 175 runs off 66 balls, including 13 fours and 17 sixes, during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Ayush Badoni scored 165 runs in his recent innings, just 10 runs shy of Gayle's record.
Ayush Badoni made his debut for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2022. He has scored 634 runs in 42 IPL matches at an average of 24.38 and a strike rate of 134.04, including four half-centuries. He has taken two wickets at an average of 18.0 with an economy rate of 8.64.
