Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Amir has never shied away from praising Virat Kohli. While cricketers from India and Pakistan typically take a cautious approach when it comes to praising each other on social media due to the strained relations between the two nations, the fast bowler seldom misses an opportunity to compliment the Indian batting superstar.

Even during the ongoing World Cup, the left-arm pacer has been busy praising Virat Kohli for his displays with the bat. He recently congratulated and praised him for scoring a century on his 35th birthday during the game between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens. Mohammad Amir is also known for not hesitating to praise the former Indian skipper on Pakistani TV channels.

Speaking to Geo News last week, Mohammad Amir said: “If Kohli had played series against Zimbabwe, Nepal, Netherlands, and Bangladesh, he would’ve broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record a long time ago. He doesn’t play such series.

“I don’t know why people keep comparing Virat Kohli. Any comparison is stupid. Secondly, you have to look at the player’s intent. He was playing ball-to-ball against Sri Lanka, and he was trying,” he added.

Pakistani fan questions Mohammad Amir:

While Mohammad Amir never gets tired of praising Virat Kohli, he rarely wastes an opportunity to criticize Pakistan captain Babar Azam. And recently during a TV show, a Pakistani fan asked the pacer why he frequently praises Kohli on social media but doesn’t do the same for Babar. The fan asked the pacer whether he doesn’t consider Babar a king since Babar’s fans fondly call him ‘king’.

In reply, the fast bowler explained the reason, saying: “Virat is my favourite. Take out my tweets from 2017. I was calling him my favourite back then too.”

Meanwhile, Kohli has been in stunning form in the ongoing World Cup. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the competition. In 8 games, he has smashed 543 runs at an average of 109 with the help of 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries. On the other hand, Babar has scored 282 runs in 8 games with the help of 4 half-centuries.
