As Pakistan gears up for the crucial two-match Test series against Bangladesh, all eyes are on the star batter Babar Azam.

The upcoming Test series against Bangladesh is not just a chance for Pakistan to solidify its position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings, but it also represents a huge opportunity for Azam to etch his name into the record books.

The former Pakistan Test captain is on the verge of achieving a historical milestone during the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, starting on August 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The second and final test is scheduled in Karachi from August 30.

Babar Azam is set to become the fastest to score 3000 runs in the WTC

With 2,661 runs to his name in the World Test Championship (WTC), Babar is close to becoming the fastest batter to reach the 3000-run mark in the WTC.

The Pakistani superstar needs only 339 more runs in the upcoming two-match Test series at home to achieve the incredible milestone.

If the stylish right-handed batter manages to score 339 runs in the upcoming two Tests against the Bangladesh cricket team, he will become the fastest batter to achieve this milestone of 3000 runs in the WTC.

With those runs to his tally, Babar will surpass the Indian legends Virat Kohli (2235 runs) and Rohit Sharma (2552 runs) to reach the historic milestone.

Additionally, Azam's chase of 3,000 runs will not only make him the fastest to reach this landmark but will also make him the first Pakistani batter to achieve this illustrious milestone in the WTC.

Babar will join the modern-era legends like Joe Root, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Ben Stokes—batters who have already reached the 3,000-run mark in the WTC—if he reaches the milestone.

As Pakistan aims to bolster its chances of qualifying for the WTC 2023-25 final, Azam's performance will be under the microscope for many reasons.

While Azam is set to make history in the upcoming Pakistan versus Bangladesh Test series, the fans are eagerly awaiting to see the white-ball captain return to his dominating form in the home series.

Salman Butt praises Babar as the Pakistani star targets historic milestone

Meanwhile, the former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has heaped praise on Azam for his remarkable form and fitness over the past two years.

Butt noted that the Pakistan captain for the white-ball formats has consistently delivered exceptional performances at the highest level.

It is being said that Babar will bat at number 4 in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. Ahead of the Test series, Butt urged the hosts to maintain their fitness.

Butt said on his YouTube channel: “Babar Azam scored truckloads of runs in the last 2 years, he proved his fitness, he ran on the field and scored runs while batting first as well as second innings. Things should go up but they are getting broken in the middle, which is wrong. So, this is the responsibility of the players to maintain their fitness.”
