'Babar Azam made batting famous': Pakistan star demeans Virat Kohli with bombshell claim

Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan has lauded Babar Azam for transforming Pakistan Cricket with his stunning cricket and has once again compared his legacy with the Indian great Virat Kohli. Though this claim in itself seems an insult to several legendary Pakistani batters.
The debate surrounding Indian legendary cricketer Virat Kohli and Pakistani veteran batter Babar Azam has been a never-ending debate between the fans from the two nations, ever since the two have made their commanding rise in international cricket.
Kohli has retired from two formats of international cricket, Test and T20Is. The 37-year-old Indian cricketer made his debut in international cricket 17 years ago and has reached the twilight phase of his career. Babar Azam, on the other hand, made his debut much later and went on to become Pakistan's finest batter in the modern-day game.
Cricketer lauds Babar Azam for transforming Pakistan cricket
Star wicket-keeper batsman and teammate of Babar Azam, Azam Khan, has said that Pakistan cricket, which was largely known for having quality fast bowlers, got recognition as a great batting unit because of Babar Azam.
“Pakistan cricket was famous because of fast bowling. But this guy made it famous because of his batting. There is a huge difference. Like what Virat Kohli did for India," Azam said while speaking on the Crickwick podcast.
This was, however, an insult to some of the most legendary batters Pakistan have ever produced, which would include the great Javed Miandad, Inzaman-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, and Saleem Malik, who are among the leading run-getters for Pakistan.
Virat Kohli had several legends, "but who was there for Babar?" said Azam Khan
Babar Azam and Kohli are both great cricketers with their distinctive strengths as well as weaknesses; however, no comparisons can actually be made between the two. Babar Azam is available to represent Pakistan across all formats, while Kohli features only in the 50-over format.
“Virat Kohli had someone around him who was a legend at that time. In the era he started playing in, he had VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and MS Dhoni. So many big batters. But who was there with Babar? There was no one," Azam added.
In a major highlight, Azam Khan has said that Babar Azam single-handedly made a rise in international cricket for Pakistan, while Kohli had the support and backing from several great Indian players since his debut.

Though Babar Azam is far from having an iconic career like the legendary Indian cricketer Kohli, he is far behind Virat's exceptional records of the second-highest runs in ODI cricket, the second-highest runs in cricket history, and the most ODI centuries.
However, recently, Babar Azam surpassed the former Indian legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in international T20 cricket for having scored the most runs in the format. Babar previously surpassed Kohli in scoring the fastest 1000 ODI runs and recording the most 50+ scores in a calendar year over three years.
