Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan Retain Top 2 Spots In ICC's Latest T20I Player Rankings
Pakistan opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan continue to be the top-two ranked batters in ICC’s latest released rankings for T20I batsmen.
The duo had a stunning 2021 where they shared four 150-run partnerships for the opening wicket. The best of the lot was against India in a high-pressure situation in the T20 World Cup. They managed to chase down 153 without the loss of a wicket, beating their rivals for the first time in World Cups.
South African batter Aiden Markram is in third place while England’s No.3 batter, Dawid Malan has fallen down to 4th after ruling the rankings for a while. He missed out on the first two T20Is against West Indies. Jos Buttler also lost his place in the top ten.
Leg spinners fill up top five bowling slots in ICC’s rankings
In the bowler’s rankings, Adil Rashid has moved up one place to be level with Australian World Cup-winner, Adam Zampa. The leg-spinners share the third spot with 725 points each.
The top two spots are occupied by Sri Lankan leggie, Wanindu Hasaranga, and South African leg-spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi. Rashid Khan fills the fifth slot, filling the top five slots with leg-spinners, showing how relevant they are as attacking spinners in the T20I format.
