Former Pakistan opener Ramiz Raja has urged current captain Babar Azam to take actions that are in sync with long-term planning and forge himself as a quintessential leader.
According to Ramiz Raja, the 26-year-old Pakistan captain should engage himself more and more with the youngsters if he wants to emerge as a leader/
Raja further added that for Babar Azam to become a great leader, he needs to learn how to take calculated risks, be more involved in selection besides learning how modern leadership works.
”Babar Azam needs to become a leader and he can only become a leader when engages with the youngsters. He will only become a leader when he takes actions in accordance with long-term planning. We take one step forward and play two new players but also play four older players.” said Ramiz Raja said during an interview with India News.
‘’He needs to understand that if he wants to become a good leader, he must, one, learn to take chances. Two, improve the selection, and three, observe how the modern leadership functions,” he added.
Ramiz Raja further reckoned that there is a lack of clarity in the roles of players in the Pakistan set-up which leads to a lot of players getting sacked once a team starts losing.
He added that Babar Azam needs to understand this and ensure that every member of his team shrugs off their mood-swing and works for the common goal that the team has earmarked.
”There is a lot of confusion because the roles are not defined. When you lose, there is a lot of chopping in the dressing room. We need to control the mood swings and everyone needs to understand the direction, especially Babar Azam,” said Ramiz Raja.
