Ravi Bishnoi's over proved costly for India
In the previous match in Manchester, India was in a position to claim the win against the hosts. In the 17th over of the second innings, when the Three Lions were in the backseat, the momentum shifted suddenly.
Emerging spinner Ravi Bishnoi leaked 29 runs, accompanied by two no-balls in that over. Jacob Bethell, who was then a well-set batter in the middle, welcomed the opportunity with both arms.
England's white-ball captain Harry Brook also played a vital role in the result of the match. At the initial stage of the second innings, the home team was in deep trouble, losing both of their openers, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, early in the innings. Arshdeep Singh was in full flow with the new ball in his first over.
Harry Brook went ballistic against Arshdeep Singh
Harry Brook initiated the counter-offensive process by taking on Arshdeep Singh. In his second over, the Indian pacer conceded 27 runs in total. Brook smashed three 6s after hitting Arshdeep for a couple of 4s.
The stage set by the skipper was then carried on precisely by the emerging middle-order batter Jacob Bethell. He remained calm on the deck and waited for his momentum. The momentum came in the form of Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over of the second innings. With the win, the Three Lions is leading the 5-match T20I series by 1-0.
On the other side, the Indian cricket team is expected to make a few changes in the playing XI for the third T20I of the ongoing contest.
