Pakistan and Sri Lanka are up against each other in the tri-series, which has been hosted by the Men in Green, with England also taking part. In the 5th match of the series, Sri Lanka bowlers were all over the Pakistan batters as they were bowled out for 110 runs in a 50-over game, which is bad news for England.

The Men in Green have already qualified for the final of the series after winning three out of the three matches they have played. It is a must-win game for Sri Lanka, as a win will knock the Three Lions out of the final contention, as they play against each other in the final game of the series.

Pakistan bundled out for 110 runs

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The Island Nation came with the same team that earned a historic run chase of 430 runs against England in their last game. However, Pakistan made two changes: Saim Ayub and Razaullah were dropped, and Maaz Sadaqat and Naseem Shah were back.

The Men in Green had a decent start in the first two overs. However, the first wicket was Fakhar Zaman, who was back for just five runs with 11 runs on the board. After the first wicket, there was a flurry of wickets as no Pakistan batters were able to stay at the crease, and they were 61/6 at one stage.

Shaheen Afridi’s side never recovered from the collapse they had they fell like nine pins and were bundled out for the score of 110 runs. Babar Azam, who looked in good touch, scored 29 runs and was the highest scorer, as no batters could get past the 20-run mark. This is the second-lowest total against Sri Lanka.

Dilshan Madushanka stars for Sri Lanka

Dilshan Madushanka was the pick of the bowlers as he picked a fifer; in 8.3 overs he finished with the figures of 34/5. Sahan Arachchige picked two wickets, with Eshan Malinga, Dunith Wellalage and Asitha Fernando picking one wicket each for the Island Nation. They bowled Pakistan out in just 25.3 overs.

Sri Lanka had a fiery start to their run chase as they wanted to finish the game quickly. They are already 50/1 inside six overs and are inching closer to the small target of 111 runs. Avishka Fernando has been dismissed on the score of 16, while Kamindu Mendis is unbeaten at 31*.

England out of the tri-series?

England are out of the tri-series. The next match against the Lankan Lions will be a dead rubber, as Sri Lanka, at this stage, have qualified for the final of the series and will face the Men in Green on Saturday, 31st October, at the same venue.

Ahead of the final, the Island Nation will face the Three Lions, which will be a dead rubber match on 29th October. However, Harry Brook’s side will look to finish off the series on a high note and win the last game.
