Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) recalled left-handed opening batsman Kamil Mishara from the two-Test tour of Bangladesh on Tuesday, alleging that he had broken the “player’s conduct/behaviour” guidelines.
Mishara, who is part of an 18-man squad competing in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh series, would be flown back to Sri Lanka straight away.
SLC, on the other hand, refused to say when the claimed to rule violation occurred or what the 21-year-old player did to warrant the recall.
“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has opted to recall Kamil Mishara from Bangladesh for his alleged breach of regulations surrounding the player’s conduct/behaviour as specified in his Tour Contract,” the country’s cricket authority said in a statement.
“As a result, Mishara, who is a part of the 18-man squad competing in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs. Bangladesh series, will be transported back to Sri Lanka immediately.”
SLC further stated that an investigation would be launched, with additional action “decided” based on the findings.
“Upon his departure, Sri Lanka Cricket will conduct a complete investigation into the ‘violations,’ and based on the findings of the investigation, additional actions against the player will be considered,” the statement continued.
