Bangladesh All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan Tests Positive For Covid-19, Ruled Out Of 1st Test vs Sri Lanka

Star Bangladesh National Cricket Team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has tested positive for the Covid-19 and he has been ruled out of the first Test match of the two-match Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

The Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2022 consists of two-match Test series and a 2-day match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh XI, which is being played at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No 3 Ground, Savar.

Meanwhile, the first Test match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is all set to commence on Sunday, May 15 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. And the second and final Test match of the series will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from Monday, May 23.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Monjur Hossain has revealed that the star Bangladesh National Cricket Team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was found Covid-19 positive after returning from the USA, according to a report in The Daily Star.

Also, Shakib Al Hasan was set to join the Bangladesh team in Chattogram but after being found Covid-19 positive he will have to undergo a mandatory isolation period, which rules him out of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

“He returned from the USA today and was supposed to join the team in Chattogram but he tested positive for Covid-19 today. We are still following the protocols set by England, according to which he will automatically be able to join the team after five days in isolation,” Monjur said.
