Bangladesh Cricket Board Announces Pay Hike For Women Cricketers

The Bangladesh Cricket Board, on Thursday, announced the salary and match fees hike for its centrally contracts players of the women’s team.

According to a report published in CricBuzz, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s women’s wing chairman Nadel Chowdhary confirmed that the board has decided to increase the salary of centrally contracted women cricketers by 20 percent in its last meeting held on July 15.

“We have increased the salary of the women cricketers by 20 percent and they will receive their salary in the new pay scale from this month (July),” said BCB Director and Chairman of the women’s wing Shafiul Alam Chowdhary Nadel, as quoted by CricBuzz.

According to the same report, the Bangladesh women cricketers used to earn 100 USD (INR 7450) and 75 USD (INR 5587.50) for every ODI and T20I respectively.

And, from now onwards, the women cricketers will earn 300 USD and 150 USD per ODI and T20I respectively.

“Earlier they (women cricketers) used to get 100 USD and 75 USD as match fees respectively for ODIs and T20Is,” he said

The report also said that BCB has decided to increase the number of national contracted women cricketers.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has given national contracts to 22 women cricketers. The cricketers have been classified into four categories.

With the 20 percent hike in their salary, the women cricketers will now receive- BDT 60000 [A category], BDT 48000 [B category], BDT 36000 [C category] and BDT 25000 [D category].
