Bangladesh Playing 11 vs Afghanistan- Asia Cup 2025, Match 9:
Openers: Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon
Bangladesh would eye a strong comeback against Afghanistan in the ninth match of the Asia Cup 2025 after losing their last match against Sri Lanka.
The Litton Das-led side started the tournament with a win against Hong Kong but were outplayed by Sri Lanka in all three departments of the game.
Having said that, Bangladesh is expected to stick to the same playing XI that took the field against Sri Lanka.
The onus will be on the Bangladeshi batters to come up with a good performance in the first half of the innings, as it was something that they failed to do in the previous match.
It appeared as if every batter was trying to bat in one gear and hit every ball out of the ground right from the first delivery.
The captain and the team management would want the baters to bat more sensibly and for the opening pair of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hissain Emon to get the team off to a solid start.
Both batters would also wish to score big individually to gain confidence for the matches to come.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Litton Das (c & wk), Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain
The openers will be followed by a middle order that couldn't capitalize on the good performances that it has delivered in the recent past, and played recklessly in the first ten overs against Sri Lanka.
A few positives for Bangladesh in an otherwise disappointing betting effort were the captain Litton Das, along with Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain.
The trio tried to build some sort of momentum for the team, with Jaker and Shamim being the pick of the batters
The pair stitched a much-needed half-century partnership for the sixth wicket and guided the team to a respectable total.
The Bengali fans would hope for them to keep up the good work and for other batters to lay a platform for them in the final five overs.
Bowlers: Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam
As far as the bowling line-up is concerned, it went in with one change as Shoriful Islam came in place of Taskin Ahmed for the match against Sri Lanka.
The experienced fast bowler had a decent game and is expected to retain his place in the XI for the next game.
Bowlers had very little to play with as the batters were not able to give them enough runs to defend, and they would hope that the case is a bit different against Afghanistan.
The likes of Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakub, and the spin duo of Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain would like to replicate the performance they came up with during the team's first match of the competition against Hong Kong.
