Tiger Robi, a well-known fan from Bangladesh, has been deported back to his native country by the Indian authorities after being involved in all the controversy in the last few days.

Tiger Robi, whose real name is Rabi-ul-Islam, went to the Kanpur Test match between India and Bangladesh on the first day. He earlier complained of getting beaten by some of the local fans and was also seen clutching his back in severe pain.

Later, he was taken to the medical facilities by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) officials and the security. After getting the treatment at the hospital, he changed his statement and claimed that he fell ill and was not assaulted by anyone.

Tiger Robi was taken to the Chakeri airport and was escorted by the state police. The security officials remained at the airport till his flight took off for Delhi on September 28, Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, Robi took a flight to Dhaka from the Delhi airport and was not even allowed to go outside the airport premises according to the official.

ADCP Srivastava informed that Tiger Robi had to reach India on September 18 after getting a visa on medical grounds. He was earlier slated to undergo treatment at a hospital in Howrah but instead went to Chennai for the first Test between India and Bangladesh before arriving at Kanpur.

“He was found gasping for breath when he met a constable. He became unconscious before we could speak to him,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander said to PTI. Later, he was taken to the Regency Hospital, after which he was discharged late on Friday evening.

At Kanpur, Robi was seen waving his country's flag at the C-Balcony enclosure and was the only fan among both teams to wave any flag. In the same stand, some portions had been deemed unfit by the government officials and asked the association to not allow too much crowd.

Robi had a brief interaction with the media on Friday where he said that he had been punched in his abdomen during the physical altercation with some of the local fans. But he soon changed his statement after getting the treatment and said that he was just feeling unwell due to the excessive heat in Kanpur.

“I fell ill, and the police brought me to the hospital. Now I am feeling much better,” he said in the video.

Tiger Robi arrived in Kanpur on Thursday night but had to sleep on the street. He stayed at a hotel in the city on Friday night and was taken to Chakeri airport the next morning. The ACP of Kalyanpur Abhishek Pandey claimed that Robi had not been assaulted as alleged earlier and also received adequate medical care.

Meanwhile, the second Test between India and Bangladesh has been badly affected by rain. Only 35 overs could be bowled on Day 1 when Bangladesh scored 107-3. The second day of the Test was washed out due to rain.
