Baroda Women's Cricket Team Manager And 4 Players Injured In Road Accident In Visakhapatnam

The Baroda Women’s Cricket Team manager and four players have sustained injuries after being involved in a road accident on Friday, October 21, near Visakhapatnam.

The incident took place when the Baroda Women’s Cricket Team members were on their way to the airport after playing the matches of the ongoing India Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and the bus they were travelling in struck a lorry at Reddy Kancharapalem on National Highway 16.

According to reports, the tragic incident took place around 7 AM, when a lorry driver abruptly applied the brakes after a motorist allegedly made an abrupt on the road. The driver of the Baroda Women’s Cricket Team bus failed to control the vehicle and it ended up having a collision with a lorry.

Soon after the incident took place, the local police reached the spot and the injured people were taken to the nearest medical facility. Also, the Kancharapalem police have registered a case and launched an investigation having taken both the bus and the lorry to the station.

As per TOI, Baroda Women’s Cricket Team manager Neelam Gupta and 4 players –Kesha Patel, Amrita Joseph, Pragya Rawat and Nidhi Dhamuniya – are the members of the side, who have sustained injuries. However, it is being reported that nobody has sustained any serious injuries and the injured are out of danger.

The India Women’s Senior T20 Trophy 2022 began on October 11 and a total of 129 games are scheduled to be played in the competition. A total of 37 teams are taking part in the domestic competition and the teams have been divided into 5 different groups. The Baroda Women’s Cricket Team are placed in Group C of the competition alongside Mumbai, Vidarbha, Bengal, Saurashtra, Chandigarh, and Pondicherry.
