"Bat le lena" - Suryakumar Yadav's hilarious 'Virat Kohli incident' reminder for Rinku Singh ahead of Sri Lanka series

Newly appointed India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has been keeping the atmosphere light in the dressing room ahead of the Sri Lanka T20Is. The team will be playing 6 white-ball games on their tour to the Island nation, starting from the 27th of July.

Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as the captain of the T20I team after the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. The batter was given preference ahead of Hardik Pandya, who was the vice-captain of the team in the tournament and was originally slated to captain the team.

But Hardik Pandya's injury history and workload management didn't work in his favor as Suryakumar Yadav was given the nod ahead. His first assignment will be against the Sri Lanka team and along with him, it will also be the first assignment for Gautam Gambhir, who will be the head coach of the team.

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the young team as India is going through the transition. Seniors Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have retired and the team will now be looking to build for the T20 World Cup 2026 under the leadership of the No.2 ranked batter.

One of the vital cogs in the wheel for the Indian team for the T20I setup would be Rinku Singh. The left-hander has been one of the consistent batters for the team in the setup but he unfortunately had to face a snub from the Indian team for the T20 World Cup as Shivam Dube was preferred over him in the team.

However, it is now expected that Rinku Singh will be given a longer rope. Ahead of the first game against Sri Lanka, the batter was seen having a fun moment with skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The duo posed for the picture at the Sri Lanka airport.

But what caught the attention of many was the caption of the picture posted by Suryakumar Yadav. At the top of the picture, he wrote "God's plan", which is a line mostly used by Rinku Singh. At the bottom, he wrote: "Theek hai bat le lena".

For unversed, Rinku Singh recently hogged the headlines after he requested a bat from Virat Kohli during the IPL 2024. The moment was quite hilarious because it was the second time he asked for a bat after breaking the first one. The premier batter, however, denied giving it but Rinku didn't give up till the time he finally got the bat.

Suryakumar Yadav would want to start his stint on high

Suryakumar Yadav will be playing his first game as the captain of the team on 27th July. The India National Cricket Team have reached Sri Lanka and have kick-started their preparations for the series. It will be a great opportunity for the team to rectify their combination as they build for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Suryakumar Yadav would be eager to lead from the front. He has been the backbone of the team in the shortest format of the game. Along with him, Gautam Gambhir too would want to start his stint on high as the duo looks to take the Indian team forward.
