The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) is set to take place in Bengaluru on September 29. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to open the new state-of-the-art National Cricket Academy (NCA) on the outskirts of Bengaluru at the end of September.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has sent notices to state associations for the AGM on September 5. The meeting will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru. The agenda, sent by the BCCI, does not include the election of the new Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board.

Jay Shah Appointed As International Cricket Council Chairman

Jay Shah was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah will replace Greg Barclay as the Chairman of the ICC. It is worth mentioning that Shah will no longer be eligible to represent the Board of Control for Cricket in India. A new candidate needs to be elected as the BCCI Secretary.

Jay Shah will remain as the Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary until December 1, when he officially starts as the ICC Chairman. Shah will be present in his current role during the BCCI AGM. The Board of Control for Cricket in India will need to organize a Special General Meeting (SGM) to elect a new Secretary before Shah's ICC tenure begins.

The agenda for the BCCI's upcoming AGM is a two-page document with 18 points, including the appointment of an ICC representative. The Board of Control for Cricket in India President Roger Binny is expected to play a significant role during the meeting. Binny succeeded Sourav Ganguly as the Board of Control for Cricket in India president in October 2022.

The AGM agenda also includes electing and inducting two representatives of the General Body into the IPL Governing Council. The appointment of an Ombudsman and Ethics Officer will be discussed. Also, the meeting will involve forming a Cricket Committee, Standing Committee, and Umpires Committee.

New NCA Will Be Inaugurated By Prime Minister Narendra Modi In BCCI AGM

The BCCI will inaugurate its new National Cricket Academy on the outskirts of Bengaluru during its 93rd Annual General Meeting. The event is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Yes, the new NCA will be inaugurated during the board's AGM at Bengaluru, most likely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The likely date for the BCCI AGM is Sept 27," a reliable source told TOI.

During a visit to The Times of India's Mumbai office on August 14, Jay Shah was excited about the project and added that the facilities would be available to top Olympic athletes as well. He also revealed that VVS Laxman will remain the NCA chairman.

"I had laid the foundation stone for the new NCA in 2022 in Bengaluru. We got that land in 2008. I am lucky that this was written in my destiny," Shah had said.

"I spoke to Neeraj Chopra and offered him to use our new NCA's facilities in the future," Shah had said, while revealing that batting great VVS Laxman would continue as the NCA chairman.
