Rajeshwari Gayakwad makes her return to the India side as the BCCI, on Tuesday, announced the squads for the all-format tour to Australia scheduled for September and October.

The tour begins with 3 ODIs on September 19, 22, and 24. The ODI series will be followed by a historic Day-Night Test – the first for Indian women – at the W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth. The trip concludes by mid-October with three T20Is in Sydney.

Selectors picked the same 18-woman squad for the Test match and the ODI series, captained by Mithali Raj, as they did for the England tour. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the 17-member T20I squad.

Gayakwad missed out on the England tour because of a knee injury. Two uncapped players – pacer Meghna Singh and left-handed batter Yastika Bhatia – have been added to the contingent.

India drew the Test match in England before losing the ODI series and the T20I series. Australia, on the other hand, are coming off a 3-0 whitewash over New Zealand in the ODIs, after their T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw. Both teams will have an extra focus on their ODI outfits keeping next year’s World Cup in mind.
