IPL 2021: BCCI Urges IPL Franchises To Confirm UAE-Bound Players Are Vaccinated

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked all the franchises participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 to make sure their players are COVID-19 vaccinated before entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It has been specified that both doses need to be taken before the players make their way to the Middle East.
The second leg of the suspended IPL 2021 will resume on September 19 in the UAE, with the first game being played between arch-rivals Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Speaking about the protocols in place, sources up-to-date with the happenings confirmed the same to ANI.

“We have been told that all those traveling should have completed taking both doses of vaccination so that there is no problem once the teams reach UAE. The quarantine process is most likely going to be seven days before the teams start training.”
The completion of the IPL 2021 will be followed by the qualifiers for the T20 World Cup in Oman. Soon after, the group stages kick-off. The ICC has released the groups, with India and Pakistan set to face-off in a high-voltage clash.
Pat Cummins doubtful; Eoin Morgan confirms availability for IPL 2021

The BCCI announced the schedule for the second phase of IPL 2021, which will run for a duration of 27 days from September 19-October 15. Before the suspension, 29 matches were completed while the rest of the 31 matches will be spread across three venues – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. BCCI also confirmed the availability of England players for the league.
Pat Cummins might be looking to skip the mega-event owing to personal reasons. His absence does dent Kolkata Knight Riders’ morale, which had already taken a beating because of their poor performances in the first half held in India. England skipper Eoin Morgan, on the other hand, is keen to rejoin KKR as he considers it to be valuable practice for the players ahead of the T20 World Cup.
