The India National Cricket Team was reportedly set to travel to Bangladesh for a bilateral series. However, the India vs Bangladesh series might not take place, as the Afghanistan National Cricket Team is set to host the Men in Blue in India for a three-match T20I series in September. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have shared the latest update on the India tour.
As per reports, the India vs Bangladesh series was supposed to take place from September 1-13, but with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) getting the green signal to host the three-match series in the same time period as the India vs Bangladesh series probably going to be cancelled. There have been tensions between the two nations in recent times due to diplomatic reasons.
Will India vs Bangladesh happen?
As per the recent report from ANI, the BCCI is working on the India vs Bangladesh series and is awaiting formal approval from the Indian government for the proposed tour. The BCCI source stated to ANI that India’s tour will get a green light only after government approval, as there have been ongoing discussions with the Indian High Commission.
"The tour of Bangladesh will happen after government approval; we are in talks with the High Commissioner. Our talks are ongoing, but the final decision will come after the government's approval," a BCCI source told ANI.

Despite early tensions between BCCI and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), it is now stable, and the apex body is awaiting government approval for the tour. The source also revealed that there has been no confirmation on the window or the date has been finalised for the series yet, but it will be created if the government gives the go-ahead.
"Our terms with the BCB are okay now, and we are looking for a go-ahead signal from our government. We have not decided on a window for the series yet, but one will be created if we get approval for the same," the BCCI source said.
What happened between India and Bangladesh?
The India vs Bangladesh tour was supposed to happen last year; however, it was called off due to political tensions and other reasons.
The relations got further tense after the BCCI restricted Mustafizur Rahman from taking part in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 despite being picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the mini-auction for INR 9.20 crore and being the only Bangladesh player picked that year.
After that, the BCB and Bangladesh refused to travel to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns and advice from the Bangladesh government, and wanted the matches to be scheduled out of India and to be hosted in Sri Lanka.
However, it was not done, and Bangladesh was removed from the tournament, with Scotland replacing the Asian side. Later on, the BCB had a meeting in Dhaka, headed by then-President Aminul Islam Bulbul, to review the board's relationship with India. The BCB stated that it had sent an email to its Indian counterpart.
