The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is ready to resume the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) after the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

However, the decision isn't entirely in BCCI's hands as the government nod is needed for the resumption of IPL 2025, and the board will consult the government and all stakeholders before making a final call.

BCCI will take a call on IPL 2025 resumption after consulting all stakeholders: Devajit Saikia

On May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to a full ceasefire on the evening after four days of intense cross-border military action. As that happened, several BCCI officials spoke on the resumption of the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL).

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said that they are closely monitoring the evolving situation and will consult the relevant authorities in the next 48 hours before announcing the date for the continuation of IPL 2025.

"The BCCI suspended the IPL yesterday for a period of seven days, and today, we are on the second day with five more days left. The BCCI is closely monitoring the evolving situation and developments, and will take a call on IPL resumption after consulting all stakeholders of IPL and the concerned Government authorities," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz.

Notably, the Indian Premier League 2025 was suspended for one week due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, with the latter launching cowardly attacks. Only 16 matches are remaining in the ongoing season of IPL, including the playoffs, and a window of around 2 weeks may be required for the completion.

We need to work out the venue dates and everything: Arun Dhumal

The chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arun Dhumal, revealed that they are exploring the possibility of resuming the IPL 2025 ‘immediately’.

He added that they would have to figure out the dates, venues, and everything else quickly before making the official announcement, but he also mentioned that government approval would hold the key.

"Ceasefire has just been announced. We now explore the possibility of resuming and concluding the IPL. If it is possible to conduct it immediately...

"We need to work out the venue dates and everything, and we would now be speaking to all the stakeholders, including team owners, broadcasters, and everyone involved and find a way as to how to move forward. Most importantly, we will have to consult with the government,” Dhumal told the Indian Express.

We will see which can be the best schedule to complete the tournament: Rajeev Shukla

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla also dropped an official statement on the matter.

He said that the discussions around the resumption of the tournament between the BCCI office bearers and IPL governing council will happen on Sunday, where they will finalise the schedule.

"The war has stopped. In the new situation BCCI office bearers, officials and IPL governing council, will discuss the matter tomorrow (Sunday) and take a call. We will see which can be the best schedule to complete the tournament."

One thing to be noted here is that Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement just after hours after it was declared that the tensions were over and it will be interesting to see how would it impact the situation around the IPL 2025.
