BCCI To Appoint Abey Kuruvilla As The Next General Manager - Reports

Former Indian cricketer Abey Kuruvilla is all set to take over as the next general manager of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will be replacing Dhiraj Malhotra, who stepped down recently.
Kuruvilla’s tenure as the national selection committee member ended this year. As a result, he can now take over the role of the general manager. “Yes, Abey Kuruvilla will be taking the reins as the BCCI’s new General Manager,” a source was quoted as saying to ANI.
Kuruvilla played for India in 10 Tests and 25 ODIs. He picked up 25 wickets in each format. As for his first-class record, Kuruvilla played 82 matches and took 290 wickets before retiring.

Known for his height, the 6 ft 6 inch Kuruvilla burst onto the scene during India’s tour of the West Indies back in 1997. Javagal Srinath was injured and Kuruvilla was asked to lead the pace attack. He retired from first-class cricket to make way for upcoming youngsters.
Abey Kuruvilla’s previous experiences
Kuruvilla became a member of the national selection committee back in September 2012. He was promoted to the role of the national selector back in December 2020. After completing five years of his tenure, he resigned on February 10, 2022.

Kuruvilla was part of the DY Patil Group, Navi Mumbai, since 2009. He also worked for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL as a talent scout.
Now, that he has been made the general manager, leaving the selection committee role empty, the BCCI will begin conducting interviews along with Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).
