The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the Asia Cup 2025 trophy drama took a fresh twist. There were reports that Mohsin Naqvi has apologized to the BCCI over the Asia Cup trophy controversy in Dubai.

However, a Jagran News journalist has revealed that Naqvi spoke to an ACC member, not the BCCI, saying that the way things happened throughout the continental tournament was not right. He apologized for the situation, but not to the BCCI for the entire incident.

Mohsin Naqvi denies apologizing to BCCI, calls reports ‘Cheap Propaganda’

Calling the rumors “cheap propaganda,” Naqvi reportedly said, “Indian media thrives on lies, not facts. I have done nothing wrong and have never apologized to the BCCI.”

Currently, Mohsin Naqvi is still in Dubai, and the trophy is reportedly at his hotel. The reporter also claimed that the Asia Cup trophy has not yet reached the Asian Cricket Council office in Dubai, and the PCB chairman is expected to check on Thursday, October 2.

However, there is a belief among the BCCI officials that Mohsin Naqvi will not take the trophy to Lahore, so arrangements will have to be made for it to reach the ACC office directly.

Mohsin Naqvi faces embarrassment, BCCI stands firm

Behind the scenes, discussions are ongoing, but the BCCI has no plans to file any legal complaint in Dubai.

In the recent ACC Annual General Meeting, Mohsin Naqvi has demanded that the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav be called back to Dubai so he could hand over the Asia Cup trophy to the champions' side, but the Indian cricket board has categorically rejected this suggestion.

Now, Naqvi has faced public embarrassment over the matter, and he can make a new drama to save his image in Pakistan.

The BCCI had already made it clear that the Indian cricket team would not accept the trophy from the PCB chairman, yet he stayed on stage after the final.

Tilak Varma shines as India outplays Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 Final

Speaking about the final on September 28, India lifted the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai with a commanding five-wicket win over Pakistan, claiming their ninth title in the tournament’s history.

Tilak Varma starred with an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, guiding India through the chase, while Shivam Dube added a quick 33 runs. Sanju Samson also contributed 24 crucial runs.

Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, and Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy bowled tightly to restrict Pakistan to just 146 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the final. However, the trophy celebration did not go as planned.

Naqvi was supposed to present the trophy, but the Indian players refused to accept it or shake hands with the Pakistani squad.

The presentation was delayed for nearly an hour, leaving India to celebrate its victory without holding the iconic trophy in Dubai. The tournament saw multiple disciplinary actions against the players from both India and Pakistan.
