According to the reports The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was working on removing Virat Kohli from the One Day Internationals (ODI) captaincy for the last four months.

Rohit Sharma was recently appointed as the new white-ball captain of the India National Cricket Team after Kohli decided to relinquish the T20I captaincy and the selectors didn’t want to have two white-ball captains in the team.

Earlier, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had told that he personally requested Kohli not to quit the T20I captaincy but he didn’t agree. Virat Kohli addressed the media before the South Africa departure and in the press conference on Wednesday, he revealed that he was not asked to reconsider his T20I captaincy relinquishing decision and it was received very well by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Meanwhile, the BCCI hasn’t responded to Kohli’s comments. However, sources have told Times Now the BCCI version of the Virat Kohli ODI captaincy saga.

The report stated that the board has no problem with Kohli but it is unknown whether Kohli has any problems. It was revealed that the red-ball skipper is ‘incommunicado’ after the games and he doesn’t have interactions with the selection committee.

Also, the same report mentioned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India was planning to remove Kohli from the ODI captaincy for the last 4 months as they wanted one captain for limited-overs cricket.

The sources further told Times Now that Kohli didn’t win any ICC Trophy as skipper and the ‘sacking wasn’t that surprising’. Notably, Kohli had also said similar things in a press conference on Wednesday. He stated:

I can understand why (he was removed as ODI captain)- the reason – we haven’t won an ICC tournament. Whether the decision they took is right or wrong, there’s no debate. It’s a logical decision which I understand. The events that transpired and the way I was communicated (things), I’ve told you.”

The sources also revealed the forward plans of the board and said that the BCCI officials are unhappy with Kohli and the discussion are in place on how to handle this situation. The BCCI has two options, the first one is they can issue an official statement on this matter and the second option is they can completely ignore the things Kohli said in the press conference or issue him a show-cause notice.
