England all-rounder Ben Stokes is all set to make a comeback to cricket after recovering from his finger injury that he picked up during IPL 2021. The injury ruled him out of the first phase of IPL 2021. He was also left out of England’s test squad for the series against New Zealand. The English all-rounder has joined the Durham squad ahead of their T20 Blast match against the Birmingham Bears.
Ben Stokes resumed training with the county club ahead of their game against Birmingham in the Vitality T20 Blast 2021 on Sunday. Durham’s official Twitter handle shared a picture of him practicing at a net session.

Ben Stokes Injured His Finger During IPL 2021
Ben Stokes has been out of the game since April after playing his last game in the IPL against Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. The 29-year-old sustained a fractured finger during Rajasthan Royals’ opening game against Punjab Kings and was ruled out just after the first game of the franchise. He got injured while trying to take Chris Gayle’s catch in the game.
Meanwhile, Durham currently is placed at number three in the North Group standings of the T20 Blast 2021. They have managed to get seven points from five games. Only Birmingham and Yorkshire are ahead of Durham in the table. Durham has a chance to top the table if they beat Birmingham in their next game. Birmingham Bears have nine points from six matches at the moment.
Meanwhile, the ECB has counted out the possibility of the participation of English players when the IPL 2021 resumes in September in the UAE.
Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders would miss their international superstars. The ECB has stressed on the availability of their players for international commitments even if that meant missing the cash-rich league.
England who lost a Test series at home against New Zealand will host Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series. The T20I series will be played between June 23-26 while the ODI series will run from June 29- July 4.
