Bhuvneshwar Kumar Bowls First No-Ball In 6 Years In International Cricket; After 3093 Deliveries

India’s new-ball bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar hasn’t been at his best so far against Sri Lanka in their ongoing white-ball series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who went expensive in the first ODI, has created a new bit of record. In the ongoing second One-day international in Colombo, the right-arm seamer delivered a no-ball for the first time after 3903 balls.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s no-ball occurred in the fifth over when he overstepped in the first delivery of his third. The Meerut-born seamer marginally stepped over the line; however, it did not prove costly in the free-hit following that. Opener Minod Bhanuka wanted to hit it way over mid-wicket; unfortunately, he got beaten.
It was the 31-year old’s only fifth no-ball of his One-day international career and first since October 2015 against South Africa. The home series against the Proteas proved to be a nightmare one for Kumar, who averaged 49.57, managing seven wickets in five games. India lost the five-match rubber by 3-2.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan’s deputy for the Sri Lanka tour, was expected to create early inroads with the new ball. However, the 31-year old could not do that or even keep the runs down. He bowled the last over and conceded 19 runs to finish with figures of 9-0-63-0. As a result, Sri Lanka reached a competitive total of 262. However, the men in blue chased it down with seven wickets and 80 balls to spare.
