Jasprit Bumrah is not injured; he was rested for the 5th Test. A report has dropped a massive fitness update on the veteran pacer ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 squad selections.

Indians have another major reason to celebrate, other than the dramatic win against England at The Oval. They are relieved by the return of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been reportedly deemed fit for the Asia Cup selections.

India played the most decisive Test of the 5-match series at The Oval, and everyone expected Jasprit Bumrah to take command of India's attack in this do-or-die situation. However, Bumrah was supposed to be healing from the ankle injury he sustained in Manchester; hence, he missed the final Test, but now a report suggests otherwise.

Report drops a massive update on Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the Asia Cup 2025

According to a report, Bumrah is fit and fine and was rested from the Oval Test only to manage his excessive workload.

“As announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar at the time of the team selection, the decision on the number of Tests Bumrah will be able to play was taken in advance by the medical and fitness team. If he was injured, he would be going to BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for recovery and rehab,” an official said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

With just three days between the last two Tests, it was decided there could be no change of plans from the previously set plan of making Bumrah play in only 3 games. Bumrah has bowled a total of 119.4 overs, most of which came in the Manchester Test, where the hosts posted a mammoth 669 runs in their batting innings.

With the Asia Cup starting on the 9th of September, Bumrah will have a lot of time to work off the slight niggles or discomfort he has. Also, the report stated that the pacer will be available for the Asia Cup 2025.

India won two Tests in England in Bumrah's absence

India has played with Jasprit Bumrah in only 3 of the 5 games in England. The three Tests were the first Test at Headingley, the Third Test at Lord's, and the Fourth Test at Old Trafford.

India lost the first and the third Tests while managing a draw in the fourth Test; however, in Jasprit Bumrah's absence, India has gone with Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep as the three frontline pacers and has won both the matches at Edgbaston and then at The Oval.

Edgbaston was one of India's most iconic wins on English soil, with a huge 336-run margin, while Akash Deep picked a 10-wicket haul, the first since Chetan Sharma did it back in 1986. Yesterday's Oval masterclass from Mohammed Siraj will be remembered by Indians for a long time in the history of the game.

Indians to play in the Duleep Trophy immediately after returning from England

The Duleep Trophy is one of India's most recognised trophies in the history of the Indian domestic multi-day tournament. Several Indian players who were part of India's squad in the England series will return and immediately be part of the Duleep Trophy with their respective zonal teams.

Shardul Thakur, who played two Tests in the England series, has been picked by the West Zone side as their skipper, while they have also named the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was part of India's 5-match series.

The East Zone named Ishan Kishan as their captain; the player missed an opportunity to be part of India's squad in the England series, despite a late call, since he was injured after a brief stint in the County. They have also named Abhimanyu Easwaran and Akash Deep, who were part of India's squad in England.
